Dramatic make – up such as bold lips or smoky eyes aren’t for everyone. Here’s a quick guide for achieving a natural look for your eyes and lips.
Natural Eye Make-Up
Step 1
Before adding any colour to your eyelids make sure you apply a primer such as an oil free foundation or an eyeshadow primer. This will give you an even base for your make-up, making it much easier to apply eyeshadows.
Step 2
Apply a light eyeshadow to your eyelids. Start from your lash line and work to your brow bone-this will add lightness and will make your eyes appear wider and bigger.
Step 3
Pick a medium eyeshadow which is similar to your skin colour and apply from the crease of your eyelid to your brow bone in order to add depth to your eyes.
Step 4
Apply a darker shadow to the outer corner of you eyes in order to create shape. Blend this colour in towards the middle of your eyelid so the two colours gradually blend (and there is no obvious line between the two shades).
Step 5
If you want to add more definition to the shape of your eyes then lightly line your upper and lower lash lines with a dark eyeshadow. Avoid creating harsh, thick lines and only use black if you have a naturally dark lash line – fairer brides should use brown when lining eyes.
Step 6
If you want to add some more brightness and a bit of sparkle to your eyes then apply a small amount of a shimmery eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes. When the light reflects of this, your eyes will appear even bigger.
Step 7
Finally apply some mascara or false eye lashes. Pay attention to the outer lashes in order to create a more natural look.
Tips and Tricks
-Don’t forget about your eyebrows! When you are going for the ‘natural’ look all features need to be perfect, so make sure you get them shaped at least 2 days before the big day.
-Be careful when applying your mascara- you don’t want to ruin the ‘natural’ look with clumpy, spider lashes! Read our tips on how to get perfect lashes to find out how to get the right lashes for your look.
-Don’t use a colour just because it is in a compact-make sure each colour you use suits your colouring!
Natural Lip Make-Up
Wether you’re going for the ‘natural’ look or want to have smoky eyes on your wedding, a natural lip can look effortlessly beautiful – here’s how to do it.
Step 1
Before you can begin to apply your make-up you need to make sure you have the right colour. Generally the rule of lip colour is to use a colour no more than 2 shades darker than your natural lip colour. However, the more natural you want to look, the close your lip colour should be,
Step 2
For a stronger and longer lasting lip colour, carefully line your lips using a lip liner. After you lining your lips, fill them with colour using the same lip liner. Do this lightly and gently in order to keep your lips looking natural.
Step 3
Next apply a lipstick in the same shade as your lip liner to your lips. Make sure you do this using a lip brush as this will stop the colour from clumping on your lips.
Step 4
Finally, apply some lip gloss to add some shine to your lips. The more natural you want your lips to look, the less lip gloss you should apply. Try to find a sheer gloss that isn’t too shiny or gloopy.
