Summer Beauty – Part 1
Summer brides always feel the pressure to look effortlessly gorgeous on their wedding day. So, to help you out with picking the right products and the right looks for your big day we’ve come up with our ultimate summer beauty guide.
The first of our 4 part guide is all about getting perfect skin, so read on to find out how to create that beautiful porcelain look.
Get Healthy
Nobody can stress how important it is to start the process to amazing skin a few weeks before your big day. Eating a mixture of fresh and nutrious foods will make a BIG difference to your skin. Cucumbers are known to be a natural cleanser, so eat plenty of the green stuff as well as food with healthy fats such as nuts and yoghurt.
Make sure your skin stays hydrated by drinking lots of water, and avoid eating salty foods as these can dehydrate skin.
But, in order to keep skin looking, and feeling extra healthy we also need a little help from those wonderful products that fill up out vanity cases!
Protect
Before putting on any make up it’s important to protect skin-especially in the summer! Use SPF15 or higher everyday to avoid damaging any healthy skin. Not to mention, sun cream is great for adding extra moisture into skin, which will help to keep skin looking soft and youthful. We recommend Ambre Solaire’s Light and Silky SPF15, which rubs into skin incredibly easily meaning that no white marks are left on your face!
Prepare
The step that most people leave out is preparing skin for all of the product that is about to go on it! Be sure to use a primer before applying any make up as it will create a smooth base for your skin, which will help it to appear even more youthful and healthy. Furthermore, applying primer means that your make up will sit on your skin much better, which means that you won’t have to apply as much make up throughout your big day! We love L’Oréal Paris Studio Primer, which is affordable and is even used by make up artists.
Application
Of course the most obvious stage in creating perfect skin is applying foundation. Always apply with a clean brush or sponge to avoid spreading any germs. The best way to apply a foundation, such as OneWedding’s favourite (Givenchy’s PhotoPerfexion foundation) is to dot a small amount on each cheek, your forehead, chin and nose and then evenly spread the foundation out. Avoid putting on too much foundation as it could get onto that precious white dress! For an extra glow, try adding a crème highligher, but mixing it in with your foundation. We love Eyeko’s cream, which has a built in SPF15 and leaves skin looking soft and glowing!
Cover up
If you have any visible blemishes after applying your foundation, then it’s time to apply your concealed. Dab a small amount over the blemish and pat it with a concealing brush until it has blended in with your skin. Do not rub in concealer! Rubbing it in will simply wear the concealer down, revealing the blemish once again.
Finishing touch
You should now have picture perfect skin! But, make sure it stays this way for the entire day by finishing off your make up with a loose powder. Simply brush a small amount of loose powder all over your face in order to make the make up set on your face and stay looking gorgeous all day and night! We recommend this Ruby and Millie loose powder, which works for any skin tone.
