Hair is as important as your dress, you want it to look perfect, right? Well, before you choose your wedding hairstyle treat your tresses to a little TLC first…
Practice your style
Just because you’ve been with your hairdresser for years doesn’t mean they’ll know exactly what you want for your big day. See them a couple of times and try different styles, take lots of pictures with you of styles you like and practice a few yourself at home.
Roll with rollers
Rollers are brilliant – fact! They don’t just add all sorts of curls, they can also be used to give hair a bit of texture or volume too. Check out Nicky Clark’s Compact Heated Hair Rollers.
Condition, condition, condition
It almost doesn’t matter what you do with your hair on the big day if it’s in bad condition it will not look good. Try to only shampoo the roots of your hair. Before you condition, towel dry your hair, then apply conditioner. This will prevent the product to slip off and generally work better. Use a hair mask 1-2 times a week, especially if you have coloured hair. We love Macadamia deep repair mask.
Get regular trims
It’s more important than ever to get your hair trimmed regularly in the build up to your wedding day – especially if you’re trying to grow your hair. Regular cuts keep your hair manageable and in great condition.
Think carefully about your colour
Do you want to be the same colour as you are now on your wedding day? Are you planning on going lighter or darker? If so, then remember that colour grows out and if you colour your hair too often it can look dull, so plan ahead and have a consultation with your hairdresser.
Find the right styling products
There’s nothing worse than have a cut you love but being unable to style it yourself at home. The key is using the right styling products and not using too much. Ask your hairdresser for advice and a demonstration on how you can style it yourself at home.
