If you want to be a true princess on your big day, there’s no better way to do it than to have a fairytale wedding. Almost every aspect of a fairytale wedding is over the top and extremely girly-perfect for those who love all things pink and floral.
The flowers
Fairytale weddings are all about being extremely girly, and there’s nothing girly than flowers – so make sure you have plenty of gorgeous, pink petals everywhere on your big day. Small, scented flowers are perfect for fairytale weddings so try to find some Jasmine and Stephanotis flowers, which can be combined with pretty pink blossoms. For some slightly bigger flowers, try adding in a few pink Sweet Avalanche Roses and some lovely, white Gardenias. If your big day is in the British spring time, then try to grab some beautiful pink or purple Pianese while they are in season!
The Cake
Make sure you keep the fairytale theme going with a gorgeous, extravagant cake. A cake with many tiers is ideal for a princess wedding, and the more decorations the better-butterflies, flowers and glitter. But be careful! Don’t overload your cake with too many decorations, as this could make it look over the top in a bad way. Take a look at these lovely fairytale cakes for a bit of inspiration.
Centerpieces and Decorations
Keep the girly theme going throughout the decorations on your big day. Find some cute pink flowers and combine them with some heart shaped candles and stones in a water bowl. Like your cake, keep the decorations as girly as you can without being over the top! Have pink sashes on your chair covers, scatter petals or small crafted butterflies around the room, decorate pillars with fairy lights-make the room twinkle!
Arrive in Style
While you can use a car when arriving to your reception, a fairytale day may be the only time you get the chance to travel in something different. Be like Cinderella and have a horse drawn carriage!
Look The Part
The Dress
There is no dress better than the ball gown for fairytale wedding. Ball gowns look great on almost all figures as typically, the fitted bodice creates curves on slim girls, and emphasises the smallest part of curvy girls. The full skirt is perfect for hiding big hips, or if you want to create the illusion of big hips then opt for a fuller skirt.
If you want to make your ball gown even more princess-like then make sure it has some embellishment, like this Alan Hannah gown, or this Justin Alexander dress.
However, you can still get the fairytale look without wearing a ball gown-just make sure that your dress has the right amount of detailing, like ‘Antoinette’ by Suzanne Neville. The petal detailing on the skirt of this dress makes it ideal for a fairytale wedding.
The Shoes
Even if you are planning to wear a full length ball gown on your big day, you still need to pay attention to your toes, so don’t wear any old pair of shoes! Keep with the girly theme of a fairytale wedding and pick a pair of shoes with some gorgeous embellishments. But be careful, if your dress is very extravagant, or has a lot of detailing, then it’s best to keep the shoes as simple as possible.
Hair and Make-Up
Fairytale weddings are all about making sure that you’re a princess for a day-so think like Cinderella and make sure your hair looks gorgeous. Girls with longer hair can look lovely with their hair in loose curls, or if you want to show off your gown, then have your hair in a loose up-do.
Keep your make-up as girly as the hair – try to stay away from dark, harsh colours such as red lips or smokey eyes. The key to looking like a real princess is having flawless skin and looking effortless, so try to use neutral colours such as a soft pink lipgloss and light brown or golden, eyeshadows.
